Deliver electrical engineering operational support to ensure that the technical ability of OME meets operating intent, whilst governing operational technical standards.

 

 

Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities

Interpret and translate business requirements into an electrical engineering strategy.

Lead and direct electrical resources to ensure optimal business performance, operational delivery and functional sustainability.

Ensure the identification and classification of technical risks and adherence to mitigation plans.

Ensure equipment in each OME goes through critical asset management process to rank critical equipment from highest to lowest priority with regards to impact and probability.

Take note of critical work taking place and ensure all possible mitigation actions are taken to minimise risk.

Ensure alignment of the electrical fraternity with regards to following common asset management principles throughout the Secunda site.

Ensure a system is in place to monitor, measure and facilitate legal compliance and risk management.

Provide clear guidance on relevant specifications and standards when changes take place in the electrical field for a specific plant.

Compile a holistic view of business unit renewal roadmaps.

Manage interactions with the main stakeholders for their engineering functions – Group Technology electrical engineering, operations representatives, engineering service providers and Group standardisation committees.

Provide technical support where required to operations.

Manage risks by making sure that all risks are identified, analysed and mitigated to acceptable levels.

Evaluate if the problem definition is clear and a plausible/quality technical solution is recommended.

Ensure project success by adherence to cost, schedule and quality targets for all projects executed by the electrical plant support team member where the role of engineering or project track is fulfilled.

Ensure project process is followed diligently by electrical engineering plant support group.

Attract, develop and deploy talent to ensure the supply and retention of talent in the broader Synfuels business.

Drive a high performance culture in the electrical engineering plant support arena.

Drive the performance management for all team members and ensure all deliverables are realistic/measurable and met.

Define technical competency levels and training needs for the electrical engineering team.

Coach, mentor, and guide engineers.

Identify unique electrical equipment that can have a significant production impact and become subject matter expert.

 

Manage a sound electrical systems support function to the OME with standby backup.

 

 

Formal Education

 

University Bachelors degree (BSc or BEng) in engineering

 

Min Experience

12+ relevant years

 

Certification & Professional Membership

Professional Engineer registration (strong wish)

Government Certificate of Competency (wish)
